Food Aid For Michigan Promotion
Food Aid for Michigan is a cause related
marketing campaign that helps stock food bank warehouses
throughout the state. Ten (10) distribution centers
affiliated with America's Second Harvest and five satellite
warehouses make up the
Food Bank Council of Michigan,
a statewide charitable organization gathering food and funds
for food banks.
The Food Bank Council’s network of distribution centers
benefit nearly every community in the state; in all, 2700
local programs covering all 83 Michigan counties.
The 2004 version of Food Aid for Michigan
program allowed consumers to contribute directly to
Michigan food banks with $1, $3, and $5 donation coupons
during checkout at Association members' stores throughout
the state. Nearly 250 stores participated on a one- or
two-week basis during July, August, and September. The
final results are still being tallied, but it's clear that
the total will exceed $46,000 in 2004. That means that
through Food Aid alone, MGA members have supported
Michigan food banks to the tune of $1.031 million since the
program began in 1985!
