he tries to "beat the pro" in a fundraising contest. Did he do
it? You'll have to ask him.

Golfers Tame a Tough Forest Akers West
Nearly 140 Michigan Grocers Association
members and their guests turned out for a great day of golf
on the Arthur Hills-designed West Course at Michigan State
University's Forest Akers golf complex on June 8. The
weather and course conditions were near perfect after
several consecutive days of rain.
The West course lived up to its reputation
as a challenging tract, but two teams finished the scramble
format at 11-under par and the winning team of Dwayne
Hazzard (SuperValu-Fort Wayne) and Ersin Bayraktar, Mike
Young and Mark White (all of L&L Food Centers) carded an
amazing 12-under 60 for their round.

First Place Team:
Dwayne Hazzard, SuperValu-Fort
Wayne; Ersin Bayraktar, Mike Young and Mark White,
all with L&L Food Centers.
Second Place Team:

MGA President Linda Gobler greeted members
and answered questions about current issues in the
Legislature. Joining her was State Representative Goeff
Hansen from MGA member Hansen Foods in Hart. "This is such
a great event," said Gobler. "My hat's off to the sponsors,
our MSU student volunteers and all the golfers who make it a
success."

Members of the MSU Food Marketing
Association staffed two games on the course that
together raised more than $1,100 during the day.
After expenses, all proceeds from the outing go to
support MGA's legislative education and advocacy
efforts. |

20th Annual
MGA Golf Outing
June 14, 2007
College Fields
Golf Course
Okemos, MI
Be the first to play one of central Michigan’s
finest new courses, at College Fields Golf Club in
Okemos (just east of the MSU campus). In its first full
season in 2006, College Fields proved to be pure golf --
no cherry-paneled clubhouse, no wedding receptions, just
a great new track.
If you would like to be
added to our mailing list to receive golf outing
materials, please fill out our
Information Request Form, or contact
Mike Hamelin
at 800.947.6237 x 20.
