MGA members can join more than 60 other same-industry employer groups in their own self-insured workers comp program. Michigan Grocers Fund provides greater control over claims, lower costs, and industry-specific loss prevention resources — and that’s just the beginning of the benefits that accrue to fund members.
Managed by a member-only Board of Trustees and administered by Regency Group Administrators of East Lansing, the Michigan Grocers Fund is sold and serviced by a carefully-selected statewide network of independent insurance professionals with grocery industry experience. For further details contact MGA’s Mike Hamelin or visit Grocers Fund – RPS Regency.
For many years the cost savings and control offered by self-insurance were available only to large companies, but MGA can now help bring those benefits to a broad cross-section of the Michigan food industry.
In November 2015, the Association’s board of directors voted to endorse the Michigan Food Processor and Distribution (MFPD) Fund, extending the benefits of self-insured workers’ compensation coverage to MGA Associate Members and other Michigan-based suppliers.
Established in 2007, the MFPD Fund has nearly 50 members representing more than $3.1 million in annual workers’ comp premium, and the successful Fund returned $1.1 million in excess profits to its members in 2016!
Eligible participants must be engaged in food processing, food wholesale, or food distribution – including manufacturers, bottlers, canners, brewers, wineries, and pet food processors. Also eligible are businesses engaged in food warehousing, wholesale distribution, food related supplies, and the packaging of food products. In short, many MGA Associate Members, prospective members, and exhibitors are eligible! MGA membership is not required to join the MFPD Fund.
MGA welcomes the MFPD Fund as its newest Associate Member and looks forward to helping spread the word of its benefits. Coverage is sold by a statewide network of local independent insurance agents selected by Fund managers.
